I go through many airports with a CPAP machine which is a medical device that allows someone who has sleep apena to sleep at night. For most airports this device is not important and just goes through as would any piece of luggage. In Denver, however, they take it all apart from its carrying case, and subject it to a trace analysis. I had to put it back together after it was done. I was told by the agent this is routine procedure but I have found it is not at other airports. On a trip to India, this was not a problem. In Detroit once it was a big deal there also. TSA should have a consistent policy regarding this medical device. It goes through the X-Ray machine and agents should know what it is.
I also had a TSA approved lock broken for a security check. What is the sense of purchasing a TSA approved lock if they do not take the time to use their keys to open the luggage. I did not want my luggage unlocked in Mumbai, India, but there was nothing I could do to prevent that.
